For walkers, painters, or just those who enjoy a jolly good view, the Wolds and Moors are situated very nearby. The site is also within a stone’s throw of a network of spectacular cycle routes and walking trails, and of course the wonderful Scampston Hall & Walled Garden is next door!.

Wander around the contemporary Walled Garden, designed by legendary designer Piet Oudolf, explore the stunning Lancelot 'Capability' Brown Parkland and refresh yourself at the Walled Garden Cafe. When open, take the opportunity to have a guided tour of Scampston Hall itself and it's stunning collection of fine paintings.
The Coast

The North Yorkshire Coast is home to many pretty towns, including Whitby, Ravenscar & Scarborough. This area of Britain’s Coastline is known as Yorkshire’s Dinosaur Coast and is a perfect spot to hunt for fossils while enjoying breath-taking views all around. Also celebrated as a foodie hotspot, the area houses a fantastic breadth of local produce found both in the pubs and restaurants as well as local suppliers and delicatessens, bursting with an array of mouth-watering goodies.

The Wolds

Howardian Hills

An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Howardian Hills covers 79 square miles of North Yorkshire countryside. It is a unique and captivating landscape with its wooded rolling countryside, patchwork of arable and pasture fields and scenic villages. It is, of course, also home to Castle Howard - one of Britain’s finest stately homes, set in a thousand acres of sweeping parkland dotted with statues, temples, lakes and fountains.

The Moors

The North York Moors is a very special place.
